The Materials Management Concept

Materials Management is concerned with the INPUT process of manufacturing and includes the flow of raw materials pieces parts, components and finished goods to supply the sales / marketing functions with the product.
It covers with all aspects of material costs , material supply and utilization .
Material Management provides tools and techniques to reduce material costs.It can also be defined as procurement of right kind of materials, at right quality from the right source, at right time ,fore the right price.
Material Management is now looked as profit centre as there are large numbers of distinct opportunities to improve profits of the organization by way of cost reductions through economic procurement, ensuring high quality of materials, ensuring contunity of supply etc.
